Our litigation paralegal Rosie Melendez knew early on in life that she wanted to work in the legal field in some way because of her desire to help people in their mostTexas Litigation Paralegal, sitting in lobby next to Button Law Firm sign. difficult times. She went through the paralegal training program and began working at a personal injury law firm. Rosie said she knew right away she made the right decision after seeing the impact she and others were able to have on people’s lives. This year, Rosie has been a part of The Button Law Firm Family for four years! To celebrate, she reflected on what the last four years have meant to her.

When I walked into my very first interview at The Button Law Firm in 2018, I was shocked by what I found. After years of working in personal injury law, I thought I knew how law firms worked. But a few minutes with Russell Button showed me that BLF was different.

When Russell told me how he operates — how everyone is involved in every single case and works each as a team — I thought, “Wow, that is such a good concept!” It was one of the things that drew me to coming on board.

Back then, the whole firm was squeezed into a tiny, two-person office, and there were just four of us on the team. Helping the firm grow from that to the large team and beautiful office we have today has been just amazing! Now, there are nearly a dozen members of The Button Law Firm team.

I’ve grown a lot over the last four years, too. I learned to collaborate effectively and bring a new level of passion and attention to detail to our cases. I have also become a leader on our paralegal team. I’ve taken on more responsibilities and always jump in to help wherever I can. Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come — but I didn’t get here alone.

I’ve learned so much about the right way to work cases because of Russell Button and Ashley Washington. I owe all of my growth to them. I don’t feel I would be in the position I’m in or be the person I am today without their guidance. They are always thinking of ways to do things better, and while we each have our own roles as part of the team, Russell allows us all to be leaders.

My growth hasn’t only been in the office, but also in my personal life. The Button Law Firm has inspired me to create a better work-life balance. I’ve always been the kind of person who hates taking time off because I don’t want to pass my responsibilities on to anyone else, but I’ve gotten better. In 2021, I went on trips with my family to California and Cancun, Mexico. We had a lot of fun exploring the adventure parks, swimming, snorkeling, and going zip-lining. I’m not sure I ever would have made those memories if I had another job.

If you’re reading this, thank you for being a part of my BLF journey.
