Button Law Firm Group

Five years ago today, The Button Law Firm was first started. I remember everything about every second of that day. What a journey it has been since then. I wanted to personally send everyone a note of appreciation at this stop along the journey as I reflect back on where we’ve been and where we are headed.

Thinking back through everything we have gone through certainly has made me appreciate the journey. I wrote out 5 lessons I’ve learned along the way. I hope you enjoy as this is a emotional day for me.

One of the Greatest Lessons I've Learned Along This Journey Is That No One Does It Alone.

We all have people that help us in some form or fashion along our journeys. Different people come into our lives at just the right time when we need them most. While we may not realize it at the time, their help allowed us to reach our next step along the journey. BLF and I are no different. What has been most amazing is how everyone that has helped along our journey is still here. We are all building this legacy together.

We would not be here without the amazing clients we have been fortunate to represent. We have handled every case together with our clients as a team. Over time, we became family. Our community of folks has grown and the relationships have strengthened. We have truly loved representing each of our clients and getting to know their family along the way.

Two, Focus on What You Love to Do, Do It With a Team and Clients You Love to Do It With, and Everything Will Come Together.

As we have grown, we have found that we can’t represent everyone for everything. It is the hardest thing to tell someone we can’t take their case, but in the end, taking every case would be a disservice to those we said yes to. As we grew the team and narrowed our focus, everything came together.

As most of you know, much of our recent focus has been on representing working parents when their kids are abused, neglected, or injured while at daycare. Through our success in handling catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, medical malpractice, car or truck wrecks, and dangerous products, we have steadfastly become known nationwide for our work in daycare injury cases. Many of our cases come as referrals from our prior clients and their families, which is the ultimate compliment.

One of our favorite clients, Rena, has decided to go to law school after we represented her and her family for a daycare neglect and abuse case. She was so inspired to do what we do, she changed her career path. A current client of ours has started a non-profit in her son’s name because of their experience of him being abused at a daycare. Some of the younger clients we have represented have gone on to go to college and are now finishing. We hosted our first Daycare Safety Webinar series last year that was a repeat of our live seminar. As a result, an amazing family watched and became certified. They are now adopting their first child and building a family. I could go on and on.

Three, Never Stop Evolving.

We have some exciting things ahead. We have now been at our new office building for over a year. It has been truly special. Already on order and coming soon will be our client wall of photos, a custom photo of the Dallas skyline with our BLF blue, and our core values strung across our big conference room wall for all to see. The client experience means so much to us and we can’t wait to share our home with you. Our website is getting a complete overhaul. This goes with one of our core values of making everything we do simple and easy for our clients. We are working with our video teams to create videos about BLF as well as information that everyone needs to know. Coming up in the future are podcasts and story telling time videos. I love telling and listening to stories and I am excited to share them with the world

Four, Find People That Have the Same Vision as You and Together You Can Build Something Special.

BLF has an amazing leadership team. Rosie and Ashley have been with us since we started this team growth over 2 years ago. Since day one, we have been on the same page. Their work ethics and passion for what we do has never wavered. It has been such a joy for me to have the feeling that I am not alone.

What is funny is how well we all know each other. Rosie can help translate something that I say to Desiree or Nicole because she has been with us for so long. She just knows what I’m thinking. Ashley knows me so well that she can literally tell when I am going to get up to go eat since I reached the point of starvation (this happened recently at a long work session with other trial lawyers).

Our team is growing. Nicole, our newest attorney, is purely a wizard at research and writing. Desiree is our intake specialist and case manager. We truly found someone that is amazing at communication and relationship building - especially with building our damages with our clients. Finally, it is important to know where you are heading, but don’t forget to enjoy the
journey along the way.

One of the core components of BLF is to celebrate the little wins along the way. Whether it is a team member’s work anniversary or birthday, we always do something special for it. We make sure that we have team days to take off and go do something fun. We had an awesome open house where over 100 of y’all came out to enjoy our new space last April. We can’t wait for our next BLF firm event.

I love waking up bright and early - ready to hit the ground running. It has not changed since day one and I don’t think it ever will. I love this firm, I love our team, I love our clients, and I love our community. Thank you for making our dreams a reality.

I appreciate you being a part of this journey with us and looking forward to seeing each of you soon!
