Lionheart Daycare Ignored Serious Red Flags
According to the lawsuit, Tiffany Young enrolled her daughter at Lionheart, believing she would be cared for in a safe and nurturing environment. The lawsuit alleges that Lionheart chose to ignore warning signs, turn a blind eye to obvious red flags, downplay accounts of inappropriate behavior, discourage compliance with mandatory reporting laws, and recklessly dismiss suspected child abuse.
The suit further claims that even after several reports of the caregiver being physically inappropriate toward children, Lionheart did not remove the employee from the classroom or notify the proper authorities. Instead, the daycare continued to put children at risk of abuse.
Failure to Follow Mandatory Abuse Reporting Laws
Texas law requires all daycare employees to report any suspicion of sexual abuse or neglect immediately to the proper authorities, including the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. In this case, multiple staff members and Lionheart’s management either knew of or witnessed incidents that warranted reporting but chose to stay silent.
