MCKINNEY, TX – Collin County Publication Local Profile has featured Button Law Firm Clients Fernando and Cristina Cossich's story after their three-year-old daughter was abandoned by caregivers at a McKinney, Texas daycare in October of 2022. The child was only discovered after another caregiver found her frightened and alone in a dimly lit classroom.
What Went Wrong at This McKinney, Texas Daycare?
Over a five-year period, the daycare, the Primrose School of Eldorado, had 16 previous citations of violations of the state’s minimum standards. According to the article, some of the citations included “failing to follow child supervision requirements and putting unqualified workers with incomplete background checks in charge of watching children.”
Furthermore, the article shares that the facility’s staff members allegedly forged the parents’ signatures on the incident report – this was according to a statement from The Button Law Firm. The parents did not actually find out about the incident until after they were told by state investigators.
After this incident happened, the daycare was cited again for abandoning a child in a classroom in March of 2023, which was five months after the incident involving The Button Law Firm’s clients happened.
In the report from Local Profile, the family’s attorney, Russell Button, founder of The Button Law Firm, stated, “Primrose School of Eldorado was extremely irresponsible for ignoring safety standards created to prevent incidents like this. There was no need for my clients’ three-year-old daughter to endure this trauma. The school made a promise to parents like my clients that it would closely supervise children, yet they forgot about her.”
