Repeated Red Flags Were Ignored
WBOY 12 emphasizes that serious concerns had been raised about Davidson’s conduct. In March 2022, parents reported that Davidson had inappropriately touched their child and another toddler. Leadership failed to report these incidents to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), allowing Davidson to remain in contact with vulnerable children.
A July 2022 email from a teacher to the center’s director described further misconduct, including Davidson touching children under their clothing, rubbing their thighs during a movie, and taking photographs of them in the restroom. Even with these clear warnings, leadership at Lionheart did not alert authorities or remove Davidson from classroom duties.
Investigations by DFPS and the Southlake Police Department later confirmed multiple violations of childcare laws, including failing to report suspected abuse and not properly supervising caregivers. At least two staff members witnessed questionable sexual behavior and did not report it, highlighting a pattern of negligence by the daycare’s leadership.
The Button Law Firm’s Commitment to Accountability
“This lawsuit is about accountability and prevention,” says daycare injury lawyer Russell Button of The Button Law Firm. “Daycare laws are designed to protect children, and when leadership ignores reports of abuse, every child in their care is at risk. We are holding Lionheart responsible to ensure no child is put in this position again.”
Davidson was arrested and pled guilty to a second-degree felony for indecency with a child by sexual contact. The lawsuit also mentions Davidson’s former employment at Lewisville New Hope Learning Center, now closed, noting that prior employers enabled his access to children by failing to report concerning behavior.
