A Calling Without a Clear Path
Growing up, I always had this quiet, persistent feeling that I was meant to do something meaningful. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, and I definitely didn’t have a clear answer to the classic, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” question. But I knew deep down that I wanted to make an impact. I didn’t just want a job — I wanted work that mattered. I wanted to feel like I was part of something bigger than myself.
Learning to Lead With Purpose
Fast-forward a few years, and I’ve spent the last three learning what it truly means to step into leadership. Being the COO of The Button Law Firm has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. It’s where I’ve figured out not just how to do the job but how to grow into the kind of leader I always hoped I’d become. The mentorship I’ve received here has helped me stretch in all the best ways.
One thing that’s stuck with me is something Russell once told me: “Leadership isn’t about doing it all yourself; it’s about empowering others to rise alongside you.” That mindset has completely changed how I view my role. It’s not about being the one who has all the answers. It’s about creating space for others to thrive, take ownership, and grow alongside you. That idea has been a guiding light for me every single day.
A Team That Feels Like Home
I’ve been fortunate to work alongside a team that truly cares — not just about doing great work, but about supporting one another and showing up for our clients in a meaningful way. Being part of a culture that values connection, purpose, and growth has given me the sense of fulfillment I always dreamed of. It’s rare to find an environment where you feel personally and professionally seen, but here, I’ve found that balance.
Challenges That Shape Us
Of course, meaningful work doesn’t mean easy work. There are challenges — a lot of them. Leads don’t slow down on the weekends. Clients still need us when it’s late at night. Systems break. Schedules shift. But even in those tough moments, I’ve learned that everything feels more manageable when the right people surround you. The kind who step up, have your back, and genuinely care about lifting each other up.
Building a Culture That Protects Balance
One thing that sets The Button Law Firm apart is how seriously we live out our core values. We don’t just say we believe in balance — we protect it. Russell and Ashley have built a culture prioritizing rest, resilience, and real teamwork. That means we don’t let anyone run themselves into the ground. We build systems that create space. We pitch in when someone needs time off. We lead with empathy, and that changes everything.
The Power of Smart Systems
One initiative I’m especially proud of is helping launch our after-hours intake system. It’s part of our broader Intake Success System, ensuring that our clients are heard and supported even outside of traditional office hours. We also doubled down on cross-training between departments, greatly reducing stress. When someone’s out, things don’t fall apart — the work keeps moving, and no one feels overwhelmed or alone. That kind of thoughtful structure allows people to breathe, take care of themselves, and come back stronger.
Creating Space Outside of Work
Outside of work, I’ve intentionally created moments that help me recharge. Baking has become one of my favorite outlets. It slows me down, gives me space to create, and brings a little joy to my day. I’ve also become a full-on plant mom — my houseplants are named after strong, inspiring women like Dolly Parton and Rep. Jasmine Crockett. It’s silly, but grounding. It reminds me to stay rooted, stay resilient, and keep growing.
And of course, I love to relax with a good show like anyone else. Severance on Apple TV+ and The White Lotus on HBO Max have been recent favorites, but I also have a soft spot for reality TV. Balance, right?
Gratitude for the Journey
At the end of the day, The Button Law Firm has been so much more than a job for me. It’s been a place where I’ve discovered what kind of leader I want to be. A place that’s challenged me, supported me, and helped me uncover my purpose. And for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
To my team, thank you for being the most incredible group of people to work with and grow alongside. And to our clients, thank you for trusting us. It’s an honor to walk with you, to fight for you, and to be part of your story. You inspire us every single day.
