BLF volunteering with Feed the CitySome weekends give us an opportunity to slow down. Others remind us how much we can accomplish when we come together.

Our recent Saturday with Tango Charities gave our team at The Button Law Firm a little of both. We joined the organization’s Feed The City Lewisville/Coppell event, where we helped make more than 1,000 sandwiches in just one hour.

For us, it was a meaningful way to spend part of our weekend: supporting our neighbors, spending time with people we care about, and putting our core values into action.

Giving Back Close to Home

This event had an especially personal connection for Russell, who grew up in Coppell. Returning to support the community where he spent his childhood made the morning even more special.

“Coppell will always be a part of who I am,” Russell shares. “Getting to give back to the community where I grew up, alongside people who have become my family, means a lot to me. I’m grateful we could spend a Saturday together doing something that would help someone else.”

That sense of connection is part of what makes community events like this so valuable. We spend our workdays helping families across Texas, and volunteering gives us another way to show up for the people around us.

BLF volunteer eventHow Tango Charities Turns Sandwiches Into Community Support

Tango Charities is a Dallas-based organization focused on addressing hunger through food, education, and community involvement. Its Feed The City program began in Dallas on January 10, 2015, inspired by a Guinness World Records event in which people made sandwiches simultaneously. That momentum grew into monthly gatherings where volunteers bring supplies and work together to prepare food for people facing hunger.

According to Tango Charities, Feed The City has now brought together 125,000 volunteers at more than 2,500 events, providing over 8.8 million meals across five countries, 19 states, and 80 cities.

Putting Our Core Values to Work

Two of BLF’s core values, Family and Team and Make a Difference, felt especially present that morning. We believe our team is an extension of our family and that working together with our community helps us make a greater difference.

At Feed The City, that meant giving part of our weekend to a shared purpose. Each person’s contribution added up, and within an hour, we had helped make more than 1,000 sandwiches. It was a tangible reminder of what can happen when people make time to help.

A BLF Family Morning

Our team truly is a family, and spending time together outside the office helps us continue building those relationships. Weekend mornings like this give us space to connect beyond the responsibilities of the workweek, especially when we are doing something good together.

“Our team means so much to us as people,” Ashley shares. “Having time on a weekend to give back together and then sit down for breakfast is special. Those moments give us room to catch up, enjoy each other’s company, and keep building the relationships that make BLF a family.”

Breakfast was a welcome way to wrap up the morning. After working together to help feed others, we got to share a meal of our own and spend a little more time together before heading into the rest of our weekends.

We are grateful to Tango Charities and the Feed The City volunteers for welcoming us and making it possible to contribute. We look forward to more opportunities to show up as a BLF family, lend a hand, and stay connected to the communities we serve.
