At The Button Law Firm, one of our core values is “Making a Difference,” especially for children. Whether standing up for them in the courtroom or supporting families in our community, we’re committed to creating positive change every day.
That’s why we’re proud to team up with Community Partners of Dallas for their annual Back-to-School Drive, a powerful initiative that brings much-needed school supplies to children who have experienced abuse and neglect. This drive is about more than giving backpacks and notebooks; it’s about offering hope and reminding these kids that they matter.
Why This Month Matters
July is National Make a Difference to Children Month, a time to reflect on how even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lifelong impact on a child. For us at BLF, this month hits especially close to home. We’ve worked with families navigating unthinkable trauma, and we know how hard the road to healing can be. But we also know the power of support from a community that sees, values, and shows up for its children.
Back-to-school season is usually filled with excitement: fresh crayons, new shoes, and a backpack with their favorite cartoon character. But for many children in Dallas County, especially those who’ve faced instability, abuse, or neglect, it’s a painful reminder of what they don’t have.
Community Partners of Dallas: Supporting Kids When They Need It Most
That’s where Community Partners of Dallas (CPD) steps in. This incredible nonprofit works directly with Child Protective Services to meet the urgent and basic needs of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Each year, CPD serves thousands of kids by providing essentials like clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and, just as importantly, hope.
We believe every child deserves to walk into school feeling confident, capable, and cared for. A donated pencil pouch or brand-new backpack can spark that feeling. It tells a child, “You’re not forgotten. You matter. You deserve to succeed.” That belief is part of our why. It fuels everything we do, not just in the courtroom but also in our community partnerships.
How You Can Help
From July 1 through July 31, we’re collecting school supplies to support CPD’s drive, and there are two simple ways to contribute:
- Drop-Off Donations
You’re welcome to bring school supplies to our office during business hours. Whether it’s one pack of crayons or an entire cart of backpacks, every item makes a difference. Office Address: 4315 West Lovers Lane, Suite A, Dallas, TX 75209 - Amazon Wish List
Prefer to donate from home? We’ve made it easy with our Amazon Registry, where you can choose high-need items that ship straight to us for delivery to CPD.
Some of the most-needed items include:
- Clear backpacks
- Notebooks, folders, and binders
- Markers, crayons, and colored pencils
- Glue, scissors, and pencil pouches
Everything donated goes directly to children in need.
Let’s Make a Difference, Together
We’ve seen the difference a community can make when it comes together. That’s why this means so much to us—it’s an opportunity to create change.
We hope you’ll join us this month to make a difference for Dallas's kids. When we show up with intention and heart, real impact follows.
