KXAN Spotlights Alarming Neglect at College Station Daycare
In a recent report, KXAN shared the heartbreaking story of a Texas family whose 2-year-old daughter was subjected to repeated mistreatment at a College Station daycare. According to the lawsuit filed by our team of daycare injury attorneys at The Button Law Firm, staff at Aggieland Country School routinely forced the toddler outside alone as punishment for crying or struggling to nap.
Our team, on behalf of the family, is now seeking answers and accountability after learning the truth not from the daycare but from a state official who initiated an investigation.
Repeatedly Left Outside: Cold, Alone, and Afraid
The article by KXAN details what investigators found during a routine state inspection. During that visit, a licensing inspector discovered the young child locked outside the facility, visibly upset and unsupervised. She was wearing only a T-shirt and jeans on a day when the temperature hovered around 60 degrees.
According to the lawsuit, this wasn’t a one-time incident. The daycare allegedly used this practice multiple times over several months, choosing to isolate the toddler instead of caring for her emotional or developmental needs.
“Aggieland Country School failed our daughter and our family time and time again,” Gonzalez shared. “We relied on their promise to create a nurturing and safe environment for children. Unfortunately, our daughter's horrific treatment revealed a much different reality.”
State Investigation Reveals Serious Licensing Violations
As reported by KXAN, the state investigation led to multiple citations against Aggieland Country School. In total, the daycare was found to be in violation of eight separate Texas childcare minimum standards, including neglecting the child, failing to report the incident to her parents, and not maintaining proper training documentation for three caregivers and the school’s director.
Texas minimum standards for childcare centers clearly require prompt notification of any incidents involving a child’s health or safety. However, the family says the daycare never contacted them. Instead, a licensing investigator had to inform them that their daughter had been put in danger.
The Button Law Firm Takes Action to Protect Other Families
Representing the family, The Button Law Firm is holding the daycare accountable and preventing this type of mistreatment from happening again.
“An innocent 2-year-old girl was repeatedly neglected at Aggieland Country School,” said daycare injury attorney and founder of BLF, Russell Button[MV1] , who represents the Gonzalez-Perez family. “For three months, the school disregarded this little girl’s safety, and it is deeply troubling that this school and its staff allowed it to happen. Holding Aggieland Country School accountable through this lawsuit is part of our commitment to safeguard Texas children and drive meaningful change for their protection at schools and daycare centers.”
