Child CryingSan Angelo LIVE! Reports on Lawsuit Filed by The Button Law Firm

San Angelo LIVE! recently reported on a lawsuit filed by The Button Law Firm involving a 4-year-old girl who was terrorized inside her preschool classroom at Trinity Lutheran School in San Angelo.

As reported by San Angelo LIVE!, the warning signs were present long before the incident. School leadership received repeated messages from a preschool teacher who was struggling, needed help, and feared having a mental breakdown in the classroom. Despite those warnings, she continued to be placed in charge of young children.

Then, on March 24, 2021, the situation everyone had been warned about became reality.

Months of Warnings Before the Breaking Point

One of the most troubling aspects of the case is how much notice the director and principal had before anything happened.

Text messages cited in the lawsuit show the teacher repeatedly communicating concerns about her mental and emotional state to school leadership over a period of months. In one message, she described a “meltdown at work” as her “worst nightmare.”

According to the article, the school’s response was to continue sending her back into the classroom with young children. Rather than removing her from the classroom or taking meaningful steps to address the situation, the staffing concerns were prioritized over child safety.

The result was a situation that placed young children directly in harm’s way.

What Happened Inside the Trinity Lutheran School Classroom

The events captured on video and described in the lawsuit are disturbing.

The 4-year-old girl was subjected to hours of screaming, humiliation, threats, aggressive handling, and physical mistreatment. As the lawsuit states, the teacher pushed the young girl to the ground, yanked her by the arm, dragged her across the classroom, and locked her alone inside a dark closet.

The child was also threatened with police involvement and told that her parents wanted her to go to jail.

For a preschool-aged child, these were not moments of discipline or classroom management. They were frightening experiences that no young child should ever be forced to endure.

The lawsuit further states that every incident was captured on the school’s surveillance cameras.

Missing Footage and Failures to Follow the Law

The article also highlights concerns about what happened after the incident.

According to the lawsuit, Trinity Lutheran School failed to immediately report the conduct despite requirements under Texas childcare laws. The case further states that school leaders failed to promptly notify the child’s parents and failed to preserve important evidence related to what occurred.

Hours of surveillance footage from the day of the incident are missing, as highlighted by the amended petition.

These issues are significant because accountability depends on transparency. When evidence disappears and reporting requirements are ignored, families are left without the answers they deserve.

How The Button Law Firm Is Holding Trinity Lutheran Accountable

The Button Law Firm filed this lawsuit to hold Trinity Lutheran School accountable for the decisions that allowed this situation to unfold.

This case is about more than one teacher. It is about months of warnings that went unaddressed, opportunities to intervene that were ignored, and failures to protect a child despite multiple chances to do the right thing.

As Russell Button stated in comments referenced by San Angelo LIVE!, this is what can happen when a school prioritizes staffing concerns over child safety and then fails to take responsibility for what occurred.
