What Happened on the Daycare Bus?
According to the article, the incident happened on Monday, May 12, after the child was picked up from elementary school for after-school care. The child reportedly fell asleep during the ride and was overlooked when the other children were taken inside. The parent told reporters that the child remained alone on the bus for roughly 30 to 40 minutes, crying and trying to get out.
The child was eventually able to open the bus's front door and exit. When the parent arrived at the daycare to pick up their child, they immediately sensed something was wrong. The child appeared overheated, visibly upset, and physically affected by the time spent in the vehicle. Only then did staff allegedly explain what had happened.
The parent took immediate action to get medical attention and began asking questions about how the situation could have occurred in the first place.
How The Button Law Firm Helps After Daycare Negligence
These situations are preventable. When a daycare transports children, it is responsible for following strict safety procedures, including face-to-name checks, bus checks, and safety systems designed to ensure no child is ever left behind. Failing to follow these protocols can lead to dangerous, even deadly, consequences, especially in extreme Texas heat.
At The Button Law Firm, we help families get the answers they deserve when a daycare’s carelessness puts a child in harm’s way.
