BLF at CPDBelieving in Better for Dallas Kids

At The Button Law Firm, our mission has always gone beyond the courtroom. Every case we take on is about more than legal action. It is about protecting children and supporting families across Texas. That same passion drives us to stay involved in our community, finding ways to make a difference outside of our day-to-day work.

Last summer, that mission led us to Community Partners of Dallas (CPD), a local nonprofit that provides essential resources and comfort to children in crisis.

Finding the Right Partner in Community Partners of Dallas

Our team first came across CPD while exploring ideas for National Make a Difference to Children Month. The idea of making a difference deeply resonated with us, and we wanted to create something meaningful right here in Dallas. A back-to-school supply drive felt like the perfect place to start, but we wanted it to be more than simply collecting items. We wanted to partner with an organization that truly shared our heart for helping kids.

Once we learned about CPD’s mission, we knew we had found the right fit. Their commitment to providing safety, dignity, and care for children in crisis aligned perfectly with our belief that every child deserves to feel safe and supported.

A Visit That Left a Lasting Impression

When our team visited CPD, we immediately saw the depth of their compassion. Their Rainbow Room, a resource center stocked with brand-new clothing, toys, and supplies, is designed to make children feel valued and cared for. Every detail matters, from the comforting meals like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese to the child-friendly rooms that look and feel like a home.

These thoughtful touches reminded us of something we often see in our own work. The smallest acts of care can make the biggest difference in helping a child heal.

Volunteering for a Cause That Matters

During our time volunteering at CPD, our team helped organize backpacks filled with school supplies so caseworkers could quickly deliver them to kids before the new school year began. Standing in a warehouse surrounded by rows of supplies ready to go out to thousands of children was an unforgettable moment.

What seemed like a simple task carried so much meaning. We left with a deep appreciation for the impact CPD has on families and for the chance to be part of that effort.

Building a Safer Future Together

Our marketing manager, Margo, summed up the experience best: “Being at CPD showed us that when people come together with the same passion for protecting children, real change happens. It reinforced why we do what we do at BLF.”

Partnering with Community Partners of Dallas was more than a volunteer opportunity. It was a reminder of why our firm exists. Protecting kids takes a community of lawyers, advocates, organizations, and neighbors all working together. We are proud to support CPD and look forward to continuing to build a safer, brighter future for Dallas children.
