CBS Texas Reports on Lawsuits Filed by The Button Law Firm
CBS News Texas recently featured lawsuits filed by The Button Law Firm against Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm in Frisco after disturbing classroom videos and state investigations revealed serious concerns about how children were treated inside the daycare.
The CBS Texas feature centered on two North Texas families who say the people they trusted to care for their children instead exposed them to physical mistreatment, neglect, and unsafe conditions inside the classroom.
For one family, the case did not begin with a daycare incident report. It began with a phone call from a state investigator reviewing footage connected to a different child in the classroom. That investigation would eventually uncover treatment involving multiple children and raise larger questions about the daycare’s supervision and safety systems.

What Texas Families Learned Was Happening Inside the Classroom
According to the lawsuits highlighted by CBS Texas, surveillance footage showed caregivers physically and verbally mistreating children inside the classroom throughout June 2024.
Videos referenced in the report showed children being shoved into chairs, slapped on the back, and aggressively handled by caregivers responsible for supervising them. Daycare injury attorney Russell Button described the footage as “disturbing” and “alarming,” pointing to repeated physical and verbal mistreatment of young children.
The lawsuits state that the conduct extended beyond a single incident or child. Multiple children in the classroom were subjected to inappropriate physical discipline and rough handling over time.
For families, one of the most difficult realities was learning that this conduct occurred on ordinary daycare days, while parents believed their children were safe and cared for.
Texas State Violations Revealed Broader Safety Concerns
CBS Texas also highlighted multiple compliance violations connected to the daycare between July 2024 and March 2026.
According to state records referenced in the report, inspectors found incidents involving prohibited punishment and unsafe treatment of children. One violation involved children being shut inside a storage closet near the classroom entrance and being prevented from leaving. Another involved a caregiver hitting a child in the face and calling the child a “baby.”
These violations added to growing concerns about the daycare’s overall safety culture and whether proper supervision and oversight were in place within the facility.
The lawsuits describe an environment in which aggressive discipline, unsafe classroom management, and repeated failures to protect children were normalized rather than corrected immediately.
Accountability Does Not Stop with One Caregiver
CBS Texas also reported that the daycare’s ownership group stated the caregivers involved no longer worked at the facility and were employees connected to prior ownership.
Russell Button explained during the interview that accountability in cases like these goes beyond a single employee.
“It is the responsibility of the owners and management, top down, to make sure that they have a safety system in place,” Button told CBS Texas. “Because at the end of the day, their number one job is to keep kids safe.”
The lawsuits filed by The Button Law Firm focus on the broader systems that failed inside the daycare, including hiring, training, supervision, and management oversight.
When repeated conduct occurs in a classroom environment, the issue is not limited to a single moment or caregiver. The larger question becomes how the conduct was allowed to continue, and whether appropriate steps were taken once concerns surfaced.
How The Button Law Firm Is Holding the Daycare Accountable
The Button Law Firm filed these lawsuits to pursue accountability for the children and families impacted by what occurred inside the daycare.
The cases focus on the treatment of children inside the classroom, the daycare’s response after concerns became known, and the broader failures that allowed the conduct to happen in the first place.
