Fort Worth Star-Telegram Reports on Second Lawsuit Filed by The Button Law Firm
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram recently reported on a second lawsuit filed by The Button Law Firm against Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm in Frisco after disturbing classroom footage revealed children being physically mishandled inside the daycare’s 3-year-old classroom.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram discusses the physical force toward young children, injuries that families could not explain, and serious concerns about what happened after daycare management learned about the incidents.
For parents, one of the hardest parts of the case is how normal everything seemed at pickup time. Families were sending their children into a classroom they believed was safe, while, behind classroom doors, children were being pulled, shoved, smacked, and physically disciplined by caregivers entrusted with their care.
FWST Discusses The Injuries That Started Raising Red Flags
According to the lawsuit covered by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the child at the center of the case began coming home with injuries that did not make sense.
One injury involved a hole inside his lip caused by his teeth going through the skin. Other injuries followed. When his parents asked questions, they were told these were ordinary injuries from normal toddler play.
But the concerns continued to build. Then came the phone call no parent expects to receive: the family was informed that the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services would be contacting them about mistreatment inside the classroom.
That call changed everything.
What the Daycare Surveillance Footage Captured
The surveillance videos described in the lawsuit revealed what families had not been told.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 15 separate videos captured caregivers using excessive physical force on children in the classroom. The footage showed young children being pulled, yanked, shoved, smacked, and aggressively handled throughout the day.
One video reportedly showed the 3-year-old being shoved into a chair hard enough to cut his leg. The article states that he was left limping across the classroom to get a paper towel for himself while a caregiver ignored him.
The footage also showed that the treatment was not isolated to one child. Multiple children in the classroom experienced the same type of handling, turning what may have initially appeared to be a single incident into a much larger picture of what was happening inside the daycare.
Concerns About What Happened After Daycare Staff Learned the Truth
One of the most troubling aspects of the case involves the daycare’s response after becoming aware of the videos.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the lawsuit describes efforts to delete surveillance footage showing the incidents. According to the article, management had already reviewed the recordings and was aware of concerns about rough handling in the classroom before families were notified.
The lawsuit states that one staff member ultimately chose to report the conduct to DFPS despite those efforts, triggering the state investigation into the daycare.
The same timeframe also included other serious safety concerns referenced in the lawsuit, including children left unsupervised outside on a splash pad and another caregiver forcefully handling children while yelling and cursing inside the daycare.
A Pattern of Safety Failures Inside the Daycare
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm accumulated 28 citations between July 2024 and the present.
The lawsuit states that even after the daycare was placed on a safety plan during the state investigation, inspectors found the facility continued failing to follow measures designed to protect children. One recent citation involved a caregiver hitting a child in the face and calling him a “baby.”
These incidents are why the lawsuit focuses on broader failures inside the daycare itself, not just individual employees.
As Russell Button told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, “There is a blatant pattern of disregard for child safety at Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm, and it needs to stop.”
