KELLER, Texas — Shocking revelations emerge as parents of a 23-month-old girl take legal action, with representation from The Button Law Firm, against Park Vista Children’s Academy in Keller, claiming mistreatment and inappropriate discipline tactics at the daycare center in August 2023. What Happened at This Tarrant County Daycare Center?
According to the lawsuit, the child, along with other classmates, were subjected to pushing, shoving, and aggressive handling, such as being yanked by one arm. A thorough investigation by the Texas Health and Human Services Child-Care Licensing Division uncovered disturbing video surveillance footage that depicted a caregiver at Park Vista Children’s Academy roughly handling the child for more than 20 minutes.
The video footage revealed appalling scenes of the caregiver yanking the girl’s arm, pushing her into a classroom door for timeout, and shoving her head against a wall when she attempted to move away. The caregiver continued to grab the little girl by one arm, forcing her to the ground, where she landed on her stomach. Despite the toddler’s attempts to crawl away, she was pushed backward into a wall, spanked on the leg, and pushed on her face. Throughout the ordeal, the toddler was visibly fearful and upset.
“No parent should have to endure the torment of discovering their child was subjected to such rough treatment,” says the toddler’s mother. “The revelations of how Park Vista Children’s Academy treated our daughter have left us angry and heartbroken.”
Contrary to the daycare center's marketing claims of providing a "safe and healthy environment," the state’s investigation found that aggressive treatment of children was common at Park Vista Children’s Academy. Following the incident involving the young girl, the daycare center was cited for multiple violations, including the use of corporal and prohibited punishment tactics.
