You've been in a car wreck and have medical bills. You thought the insurance company would pay since the car wreck wasn't your fault. Unfortunately, they are not paying.
Every client always asks me why the insurance company is not paying their medical bills. The answer is simple: because they can get away with not paying. They will not pay your medical bills for a few reasons:
- They want to see if you will just get frustrated and go away.
- They want you to settle cheap to get some money so you can go to the doctor before you realize the full extent of your injuries.
- They want you to settle before you talk to a trial lawyer and become informed about your rights.
During the process, you may have co-pays or other deductibles with your health insurance. Make sure to keep those receipts as we include those in our calculations for damages in the end.
At the end of the day, a settlement or verdict will pay for your medical bills. If your medical bills have been paid throughout by health insurance or workers compensation coverage, then they will need to be reimbursed out of any recovery on your case. If you can afford to pay your medical bills as you go, then any recovery will cover that as well.
